Cult of Comfort — Privacy Policy
Cult of Comfort is a cosy village game. You start without an account, and your village lives on our server, so we can check each night’s raid and other players can share your world. This policy explains the small amount of data that takes, and why.
Last updated 20 October 2026
In short
- No sign-up. The first time you play, the game makes a random player key for you. We do not ask for your name, email address or password.
- Your village is kept on our server in Germany, so it survives a reinstall or a new phone.
- There are no ads, no analytics, no crash-reporting service and no trackers.
- Signing in with Google is optional. If you do, we keep only Google’s identifier for your account, not your email address or name.
Who we are
Cult of Comfort (“the game”, “we”, “us”) is developed by adziusmaster. If you have any questions about this policy or your data, contact us at andrzej@lechdigital.nl.
Your player key
The first time you open the game, our server creates a player for you and gives the game a random player key. The game keeps the key on your phone and sends it with every request, so the server knows which village is yours. On the server we store only a scrambled form of the key (a hash), not the key itself. The key is not linked to your identity, your Google account or any advertising ID.
Your village
We store your game state on our server: your village, its buildings, cultists and resources, your progress, and the commands you play. The server replays each night from them to check the result. We also store when your player was created and when your village last changed.
The game keeps a few things on your phone as well: your player key, your settings and a summary of what happened while you were away.
The shared world
Your cult has a place on a world map that other players share. They see your cult’s name, its colour, where it stands and the places it holds. The name is made up by the game from places on the map. It is never your name, and you cannot type one in.
The village code
You can ask the game for a village code, so you can bring your village to another phone. We store a scrambled form of the code (a hash), not the code itself. Anyone who has the code can open your village, so keep it to yourself.
If you sign in with Google
Signing in is optional. It ties your village to your Google account, so you can get it back on any phone without a village code. Sign-in goes through Android’s own account sheet.
Google sends the game a signed token. Our server checks it with Google and keeps only Google’s identifier for your account, a number that is not your email address. We do not store your email address, your name, your profile photo or any Google access token, and we never get your password.
What we do not do
- We do not show advertisements.
- We do not use analytics, a crash-reporting service or trackers.
- We do not include third-party SDKs that collect data.
- We do not sell or share your data.
- We do not collect your location, contacts, photos or microphone.
Where it is kept
The server is a virtual machine hosted by Hetzner Online GmbH in Nuremberg, Germany, in the EU. Data travels to and from it encrypted, over HTTPS.
Legal basis
Under the GDPR, we process your player and village data because it is needed to provide the game you ask for (Article 6(1)(b)).
Data retention and deletion
Your player, your village and, if you signed in, the link to your Google account are kept until you ask us to delete them. To delete them, email andrzej@lechdigital.nl with your village code (Settings in the game), so we can find your village: we hold nothing else that tells us which one is yours. Deleted data disappears from the server’s backup images within 7 days.
Uninstalling the game removes what it kept on your phone. It does not delete your village on the server, so you can still bring it back.
Children
Cult of Comfort is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to receive it in a portable form and to object to how it is processed. To use any of these rights, contact us at andrzej@lechdigital.nl.
You also have the right to complain to your data protection authority.
Changes to this policy
We update this policy before adding any feature that uses data differently, for example purchases, and revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page when we do.
